FaceBook cracking down on hoaxes

We Live Security reports that FaceBook is now flagging newsfeed items that may be hoaxes or spam.  This is largely crowd sourced, with "false news story" being one of the options to pick when you report a post.  The danger with crowdsourcing the assessment, of course, is that what counts as a hoax may depend on your political leaning or religious affiliation; the blog post explores this idea towards the end, and links to a Wired article that dives deeper.

Even so, this looks like a promising new FaceBook feature, one which I'll be watching with cautious optimism.
