From the "knowbe4" blog, some alerts on the kinds of scams that are already circulating.  Be skeptical about links in email!

There's also a good reminder that credit card breaches aren't as painful to fix as debit card breaches.  While I'm not advising you to run up credit card debt, it's a somewhat safer payment method.  (Pay off each month and keep a $0 balance whenever possible, to avoid interest payments; but that's financial advice, not security advice.)

New Nov 21:
Two different articles about a Facebook scam about winning a free Audi R8.
  • This article goes into detail about why the scammers bother:  Short story, they want lots of people to like / follow their page, so that when they release something more malicious later, they have a large audience automatically receiving it.
  • A second article headlines with the Audi scam, but goes on to list other scam examples, and finally links to more tips to protect yourself.  The short story on those tips?  Be skeptical of links -- especially those too good to be true!
