Charity Case Study

Suppose I've been asked to donate to Team Siena, for a Best Buddies of Maryland event in November of 2014.  I look up the page at each of the three links.

The Better Business Bureau lists a "review in progress."

Charity Navigator gives the national organization three stars out of four, with a detailed analysis.  They note that over 80% of donations benefit the children they serve.  Individual chapters are not considered separately.

CharityWatch doesn't list Best Buddies.

In this case, the review is generally positive.  Full disclosure:  This was made easier by the fact that Siena's dad is my cousin, and the request came from him -- a trusted source.
